First Trailer For DARK TIDE Starring Halle Berry

Academy Award winning actress Halle Berry has been in such films like JUNGLE FEVER, THE LAST BOY SCOUT, EXECUTIVE DECISION, X-MEN 1, 2 and 3, SWORDFISH and MONSTER’s BALL. Those are some pretty good films to have on one’s resume but said resume also includes some stinkers like CATWOMAN, and GOTHIKA. Now I don’t want to judge a book by its cover — well in this case, a movie by its trailer but, Berry’s latest film DARK TIDE looks like it will more than likely go into that latter category.

Directed by John Stockwell (BLUE CRUSH, INTO THE BLUE), DARK TIDE stars Olivier Martinez, Ralph Brown, Luke Tyler, Mark Elderkin, Sizwe Msutu, Thoko Ntshinga and Berry as a diving instructor who returns to the deep after a near-fatal incident with a Great White shark. That brief logline leaves a lot to the imagination but once you check out the trailer for yourselves, you’ll begin to question why an actress as talented as Halle Berry couldn’t have chosen a role worthy of said talent. Anyways…

DARK TIDE will be distributed by Wrekin Hill Entertainment and Lionsgate and will be available on demand March 8 before heading to theaters — in what I can only assume will be a limited theatrical release on March 30.

In the film, Kate (Berry) is a shark expert whose business has been failing since a shark attack killed a fellow diver under her command. Once dubbed “the shark whisperer,” Kate is haunted by the memory of the attack and unable to get back into the water. With bills piling up and the bank about to foreclose on Kate’s boat, Kate’s ex-boyfriend Jeff (Martinez) presents her with a lucrative opportunity: lead a thrill-seeking millionaire businessman on a dangerous shark dive…outside the cage. Battling her self-doubts and fear, Kate accepts the proposal — and sets a course for the world’s deadliest feeding ground: Shark Alley.
